RIGA, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) — The Latvian capital city of Riga on Thursday hosted an international aviation forum that brought together over 300 aviation leaders and experts, the Latvian Aviation Association said.
At the forum, experts from the Baltic states and other European countries discussed industry challenges and trends in the world.
Latvian Transport Minister Kaspars Briskens said that in the aviation sector, moving towards sustainability is no longer an option but a goal to be achieved.
“Our investments in renewable energy, sustainable aviation fuels, electrification, hydrogen and innovative technologies reflect this mindset and commitment to lead the aviation industry,” Briskens said.
Aviation experts also talked about future scenarios for aviation in a climate-neutral world. In a panel discussion, airport managers from the Baltic states and the Netherlands assessed the development prospects of regional airports as they evolve from air hubs into new types of socioeconomic centers. ■
